Patterson’s Restaurant offers casual dining for guests and locals from breakfast through dinner, 7 days a week, with a contemporary menu to suit all tastes.
Start the day with a full buffet breakfast (cooked/continental) or order à la carte. Our lunches are light and fresh. And come evening, the dinner menu is fuses European favourites with Asian inspired touches.
Enjoy your meal in our newly refurbished dining area or relax with garden views on the terrace, which is heated in winter.
Head Chef Dean Ding is formally trained and qualified in professional cookery and has a wealth of experience creating delicious food within an accommodation setting. Passionate about what goes on anybody’s plate, including his own, Dean’s philosophy when it comes to our menu is ‘simple but fresh.'
Generations of good food and good times run through our family, with a history of welcoming and hosting people that goes back to 1939. One side of the family ran quintessential Kiwi hotels for many a year; the other made their name serving good eats from a milk bar in Christchurch city. And in the 1970s, the two sides combined that experience and built the Commodore Hotel.
At the heart of our family tradition is a warm and welcoming experience. It’s how we were raised and how we’ve lived our entire lives. And now it’s in the hands of us three Patterson brothers to continue that custom, we invite you to enjoy what a legacy of good hospitality offers.
